12 AM - After being down all week with that stupid migraine I kind of overdid a wee bit today. Okay, I really overdid it today! But I got so much stuff some it will be worth it if I'm out of commission again tomorrow! Ibuprofen time!

1PM Considered moving back to Fresno for about 5 minutes. Compared the weather. 70 here today, 95 there. Moment of insanity passed. Ugh; the breezeless summer heat, the bitter foggy winters, the flatness asphalt landscape and the self rightious bigots make Fresno rather dull. But my old friends were great and they always managed to stir up enough music and art and laughter to take the edge off.

My mom commented, "And if you can't always do that, then at least lift up the people you are stuck with!"
To which I replied, Nope, tired of carrying all the dead weight!
I stand by that 100 % No more dead weight!

440PM Hear Ye Hear ye! Yes, I mentioned some things that I did not like about Fresno, but although I said there were self righteous bigots there, I did not say everyone who lived in Fresno was one! Otherwise I wouldn't have survived 10 years living there. Gee whiz!

11:30 AM - Whooot! Just in time for Halloween! Michael Moorcock's new Doctor Who novel THE COMING OF THE TERRAPHILES to be released October 28, 2010.

12:30 - And here is Yentl being all comforting when I was stuck in bed with a migraine yesterday! The mic didn't do a great job of picking up her purring, but she's so pretty!

1PM - Okay. As much as I'd love to (attempt to) spar with the brilliant and fabulous Kathryn about the unfairness of life and how much white people suck...I must run! Ooops. Did I just simplify our "discussion." (tongue was firmly planted in my cheek!) Kathryn, you are really one of my most brilliant friends!

Poop on the Pope!

Apologies and promises don't mean much if you don't take responsibility. Is the Pope really blaming "the Devil?" Oh, and not for the pedophiles in the church or the coverup, mind you, but for the scandal. Really? That sounds sincere. This is a holy man? Catholic church is long overdue for an overhaul!

Since I can't do much of anything myself today, I figured I'd add some photos of my own sweet kitties lounging about.

What my girls do.... Willow is so good at napping sometimes I have to check and see if she's still breathing!

The Henna

So here's the progress of the moth "tattoo" from start to finish. It looks pretty nice now and is lasting well. It should wash off about the time I get tired of it.

Day 1

Henna moth & moon done by Kali Ma henna, at Temescal Street Fair. Now it's just a matter of keeping it dry and waiting as long as possible for the crust to flake off.

Day 2

Now most of the crust has flaked off and it's that classic orange-red color. We'll see how much it darkens. Have to try to keep it dry!

Day 3

All the crust is off and I have a nice orange-red stain.

I love the moon. It's very much like the ones I doodle.

Day 4

Stain is turning a little browner now. Depending on how much I scrub my arm when I wash it'll last 6-10 days before the skin sloughs off.

FRUSTRATION!

I know I have a good excuse for being completely unproductive today thanks to this stupid migraine, but I'd really like to get back to it!

Probably most disgruntled about being too sick to go see the Rush film in SF tonight. Why'd they have to do it one night only? Dislike!

At least I don't have to watch out for "he who must not be named" and he won't have to look over his shoulder all night either.

My Head Hurts!

This is, day 4, of my migraine headache! I braved Highland, but they can only give me more of the stuff that hasn't worked! Everyone in this country should have access to the medical care they actually need!

And for all those who say no one is denied health care in this country as you sit smugly and self centered in your bubble. Because I can't afford insurance, I've been on a waiting list for more than 2 years to see a neurologist about these migraines. The only medication that is effective for them, along with several other medications I need is not covered by the county plan. So, I just suffer and become unproductive until I have to waste taxpayer money on a trip to the emergency room. At said emergency room, they were able to do nothing for me. (I thought about telling them to send the bill to Ron Rapozo.)

Teresa M Walker Dude, we are in the same boat. I can't get more meds for my diabetes, hypothryoidism, RLS and high blood pressure until I can pay the $100 for the bloodwork, and then $85 to come back 5 days later for the results. Tried using county clinics.....slightly cheaper, but they don't hear me....look right at me, but don't hear an F-in thing I say. No one knows my body as well as me, and I know from experience. I have been hoarding my meds in worry that this long space between paychecks would be tough...so I am okay for another week, except the RLS, but thankfully I have a friend with a solution.

Lorelei Moon OMG! I totally empatihze about the "hoarding the meds" I've been really lucky with the one clinic that I've been going to & in fact they've been better than Kaiser in a lot of ways, 30 minute appointments, free acupuncture, actually managing my meds. I even had dental! But as far as specialists and availability of some of the meds, it's difficult. Unfortunately, now the funding's been cut so I haven't seen my Dr or refilled my meds in months.

Phyllis Rose Wilbur Sorry about the migranes. I had a friend who had terrible headaches. Sleeping was about the only thing that reallly helped them.
